Background information on the website

A Brief History of Timelord:

The site launched on 20th September 1999 with six stories and the Sapphire and Steel article. Since then it has grown into something of an Internet sci-fi mammoth, with new content still being added on a weekly basis.

The site is designed and maintained by me, Kenny Davidson, and is an example of the web design work I can produce professionally. Timelord's content is the product of many talented people. Stories, features, artwork and downloads are all individually credited on the appropriate pages. None of this site's content may be reproduced elsewhere without the explicit approval of the individual writer, artist or producer.

The Random Fiction (RF) section began as a separate site on 1st May 1999, under the editorship of Tim Reid. I took the site on in late 2003, when it formally became part of Timelord. It retains a distinctive framed interface, and comes with its own "readers guide" to further explain the navigation of its episodic material.

Dr Who is of course the copyright of the BBC. This unofficial fan-based site is non-commercial and does not profit from the use and promotion of their franchise.

Web Guide GoldOf the various compliments this site has received over the years, one in particular we are especially proud of. Timelord was awarded "Gold" status in 2002 on Paul Harman's definitive Dr Who Webguide, the listing of which is officially mirrored on this site here.

Navigation:

Navigation is principally via the horizontal bar above and below, featured on every page of the site, the yellow button highlighting the page or sub-section you are currently in. The same toolbar style is used to link related stories in the fiction and audio sections.

How to contribute content:

If you want to submit a short story to Timelord, please post your story direct onto our forum, it will be archived at Timelord in due course. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask, either at the forum or via email.

So who contributes?

Timelord have had a regular core of contributors who have been with the site for years. Some of our contributors have submitted their pages to our Timelord Profiles section, which is where the hyperlinks on authors' names will take you should you click on them. The profiles section is designed to be supplemental to the content pages, rather than a freestanding section on its own, and is as yet still a growing work in progress as contributors answer the questionnaire. However, the best way to get to know these people is by joining them in our forum!
