UNPLUGGED

What do you like?

Family, friends, financial security.

What do you dislike?

Marmite.

What do you do when you're unplugged:

I'm seldom unplugged as I'm a web designer and software tutor to trade. But when away from PC's and PDA's etc, I do a bit of writing, am dram, gardening (yes, really!) and taxi-ing our kids on their ever active social lives.

INSIGHT

What Animals do you hate?

Don't like reptiles, but like most other things.

Which Hartnell era monster do you most aspire to?

Hartnell himself, probably! My temperament can be similarly mercurial at times.

Coffee or chocolate?

Coffee.

Ideal job?

I think I'm doing it now, actually.

Have you invaded Poland?

Not yet, but I have done some preliminary investigation of their vodka.

Is fast food evil?

Thankfully we don't have a MacDonalds or alike near us so whenever we are near one it's more a one-off treat than a daily threat.

Have you ever been accused of a crime of fashion?

Not yet, but some things in my wardrobe wouldn't look out of place on Alan Bennett!

Have you seen anything supernatural and / or been kidnapped by aliens?

Supernatural yes, but no aliens! Just ghosts and a few experiences which are ... inexplicable.

What is your cure for writers block?

Walk about the garden. I'm fortunate in that I've got quite a big garden, with trees to shelter under if its raining.

What's the worst fan fiction you have ever written?

RF#1, episode 3 - my very first RF episode!

Of all that's archived on Timelord and RF, what's the thing you're proudest of contributing?

Probably The Bridge House novella, which is currently still at Police Box! At RF it would be What's the Time, Mr Wolf?

What happened in the year you were fourteen?

I think that was the year I first met Chaz and the others in the Glasgow local group at the time. Was a three hour bus journey to get there!

If you could be any age again, what would it be?

Oh, every year has a good stopping off point.

If you could visit any moment in history what would it be?

A sandy British beach, with a nearby cafe, early on a warm summers day in the early to mid 1980's. I'd buy a copy of that morning's newspaper and maybe the current DWM of the time, find a chair and watch the world go by for a couple of hours.

What crossover story should never be made... ever?

Dr Who and the ITV News Channel
Their news studio already looks like something from a science fiction set.

If you ruled the world, who would be first against the wall?

Me probably, for dereliction of duty!

What would your entry in the Encyclopaedia Galactica say about you?

A little man who lived a little life and was quite happy with it.

Borg or Cybermen?

Cybermen every time. I mean, 7of9 is a nice blonde bombshell, but sticking an attractive piece of metal on her face can hardly convince anyone that it's difficult to revert a Borg back to a human. Cybermen, on the other hand, are Frankenstein's monster perfected.

If you were a Doctor Who Title which one would you be?

With all these websites, its got to be The Web of Fear!

Should any Twin Peaks fans who survived the purge be arrested?

I've still got the soundtrack to this on cassette somewhere. The music was great. Could never understand what the fuss was about the programme though.

Which missing Who story would you most like to be refound?

The rest of the Web of Fear, or any season 5 story.

Who would play you in a cheap BBC drama about your life?

I'm told Christopher Eccleston's got my ears..!

Computer games?

Not really, unless they're little games or word games. Scrabble, Tetris, Bejewelled, and TextTwist are my limits.

What would you like on your epitaph?

I like Spike Milligan's one - "I told you I was ill". But for me, "Returned to sender".

PG or 18?

PG

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori?

Depends on the war, and if its genuinely for the greater good. The war dead should always be honoured though.

Have you ever been, or are you now, a member of a Communist organisation?

I supported Greenpeace when I left school and began wage-earning.

What is the best word?

"Possibilities"

When did you first get involved with this online group?

I was there just after the original Yahoo Clubs group got off the ground, I started Timelord as Tim started RF, and the rest as they say...

Half-empty or half-full?

Half full. But then I'm usually a bit of a fool

Are we (as a creative group) currently in a period of progress or regress?

Progress; the message board gives more attention to creative posts, especially fiction. They're no longer "filtered out" amongst multiple other forums as they were at YaWho. The forum setup is nothing new of course; having the one board for everything is how it all started on our original "Doctor Who" Yahoo club! But I do think its a step forward as well as being kind of a step back!

LISTS

Top 3 favourite films

Lord of the Rings,
Meet Joe Black,
Much Ado About Nothing

Least favourite film

The Matrix Reloaded

What's the best other TV show?

Sapphire and Steel - Agatha Christie never gave us investigators as good as that pair!

Favourite piece of music

Gershwin's "Summertime", from Porgy and Bess, preferably sung solo by soprano rather than as a duet.

What's the best sport?

I'm not really a committed sports fan, but I do tend to follow the big events, and take a passing interest in Liverpool's position in the league.

Favourite kiddies programmes when you were young

I wish I'd seen Children of the Stones at the time! But when I were a young un it was Cheggers Plays Pop with those giant inflatable obstacle courses that I always wanted a go on, Battle of the Planets, the Space Sentinels, Swap Shop on Saturday mornings (I still remember the tel number!), and Groom, Greene and Duncan on Blue Peter. Oh, and something called The All Electric Amusement Arcade which was a 7 part serial on ITV and co-starred David Collings.
